My sister has been a smoker for a long time and her house has always smelt the worst because of it. She has a lovely home but I have always been a bit put off by the nasty smell that hits you when you walk through the front door. At my last physical, my doctor said my blood pressure was up, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels were up and he was almost certain my blood sugar was, too. He blamed all of it on the fact that my weight was up. We made a deal. If I could get some weight off in a month and see if my health indicators were better, he would put off writing me prescriptions. About a year ago my stepmother had a heart attack and almost died. Thankfully most of her heart problems have to do with the fact that she was overweight. Because of this she went on a pretty strict diet and dropped over 80 pounds in close to one year. These days she takes a lot of walks along the Santa Monica River Trail.
