Puffy or Dark Eye Treatment

With a name known to inflammation of a small gland located at the edge of the eyelid, called meibomian glands, when retained sebaceous material. The retained sebum within the gland forms a hard lump, painless. It is more common in the upper eyelid and in adults, very rare in childhood and youth. Usually disappears within a few months, but sometimes persists, and grows a cyst. When this happens comes to produce aesthetic problems and, worse, can compress the cornea and impair vision.

Its treatment usually depends on the size of the tumor. In small, intralesional injection of corticosteroids often gives good results, but in major surgery and removal of the cyst is the ultimate solution. Usually done by the inner eyelid, leaving no visible scars.

Is the lacrimal sac infection by lacrimal pathway obstruction. the lacrimal pathway obstruction is the most common congenital anomaly of the lacrimal system, and occurs in 20-30% of the babies, but in 90% of cases resolve spontaneously within the first weeks of life.

Normal is estimated a delay of three weeks from birth for the complete formation of the canal, but after three months is considered pathological.

This Puffy Eyes infection is recognized in the newborn because it presents a constant watery discharge and was formed in the conjunctival fornix. Treatment is initially conservative, and if infected are applied nasal decongestants, antibiotics and massaging the area. If the blockage lasts soundings are performed with irrigation canal, which gives good results up to 6 months. If at 9 months duct obstruction persists, the most effective treatment is surgery.

The affects mostly women and appears to be due to aging, but can occur from accidents, burns, shock or poor hygiene. If the obstruction is partial, dilation of the puncta and probing may be sufficient to resolve the problem, but when complete the surgery is often the only solution.

Dacryocystitis can be acute or chronic. When an abscess is acute and occurs in the inner corner of eye swelling hard, red, painful, which can extend to the surrounding area (eyelids, nasal root). It is treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, surgical drainage, and after controlling the acute process is to solve the basic obstruction. In the chronic form, with tears of long duration and sometimes mucopurulent secretions, treatment is surgical: Performed a small operation that consists in communicating the lacrimal sac with the nose, so that the tear secretion is discharged through the nose.
