A career move into corporate automobile fleet management

When a friend mentioned that he was considering moving into the motor industry I urged him to investigate with caution. Many of the car companies are experiencing current difficulties due to the economic climate and the tough industry conditions facing manufacturers. He is not specifically interested in the retail side of the business but more inclined to lean towards corporate automobile fleet management. Having worked in corporate client business development previously he is well versed in relationship development. It seems like a natural step for him to take but just a question of whether it is good timing given the current state of the motor industry.
