On the plains of the Sacramento Valley, as one begins to ascent into the Sierra Nevada foothills, you will start to see the Citrus Heights homes dotting the rolling green hills. Today, Interstate 80 – the main transcontinental highway connecting New York and San Francisco – serves businesses and the 89,000 residents who call Citrus Heights home. Citrus Heights recently celebrated its 10-year Anniversary of Cityhood on January 1, 2007. Although it may seem as if the City of Citrus Heights is relatively young after recently celebrating its first decade, the Citrus Heights area has a deep-rooted history dating back to the late 1800s and the Gold Rush days.
