How to Best Describe Alternative Investments

October 16th, 2009

How would one best describe alternative investments? In plain terms, these types of investments are characterized by NOT being one of the three major forms of investments. “So what are the three major forms of investment?” you may be asking. The answer to that is simple… stocks, bonds and cash. Any investment that falls out of the range that covers these three categories is considered alternative. These types of investments can be risky and usually involve a high minimum investment. For this reason, usually only experienced investors will dedicate their time and money to such investments. It is always best to work with a professional broker when dealing with investments such as these.
