Removing a Bankruptcy

March 27th, 2009

The rule is that you have to wait ten years before a bankruptcy will be removed from your credit report, but in some cases you may not have to wait that long. In situations unknown to most consumers, this is how to remove bankruptcy. If you contact the three major credit reporting agencies in writing and dispute any negative information listed on your credit report, the credit reporting agency has 30 days to verify the information, including your bankruptcy. If you do not receive a reply verifying the bankruptcy within 30 days, then the damaging entry must be removed. Because of the high volume of claims they receive, verifying and responding within 30 days will be difficult for most credit reporting agencies.
