Should You Enroll in A Section 105 Medical Reimbursement Plan?

April 16th, 2009

If you work and your employer offers a Section 105 medical reimbursement plan, you should definitely take advantage of it; for one thing, the money is tax free. The catch is that it absolutely must be used only for qualified medical expenses, such as prescriptions and expenses not covered by your health insurance. You should enroll in this type of plan, but make sure that you carefully calculate the amount you wish your employer to withhold for this account, as it must be spent by the end of the plan year or it goes away forever and you never get it back.
