The Evolution of the Antique Sewing Machine
July 11th, 2009
From the time of its conception up to today’s timeline, the sewing machine has faced a lot of remodeling and improvements. At first it was bulky and oversized but as the years went by, the size became much and much smaller, as its proficiency became more and more noted. Throughout the decades, many people have been making more and more sewing machines, trying to improve at the already existing designs. They were in the race rather fiercely that some law suits where filed here and there. These designs all led to the compact and light weight sewing machine that we all know today. Nonetheless, the sewing machines from the past are still regarded as vintage items and an antique sewing machine of good caliber can sell for hundreds of dollars. A testament to the evolution of one of the most useful tool ever made.
