Trying to Understand Niche Marketing

I recently purchased a guide that is designed to teach about niche product marketing. I have to agree that this is a perfect business model since it takes almost no money to get started and there is absolutely no customer service if you use affiliate products. I have looked at the options for affiliate products and there are almost endless opportunities. The one thing I am having a lot of trouble with is determining what niche would be good to go into. I know there are all kinds of guides that teach this, and I have used many of them, but I still don’t get it.
