Would Like to Learn More about Executor Duties Before We Pick One

My wife and I are still young, but since having children we have started to think about making sure that they are cared for if anything should ever happen to us. We do not like to think about it but would rather be safe than sorry for their sake. We would like to learn more about executor duties before we pick one. We have some relatives and some friends that we are considering asking to do this for us. But first we need to know what exactly they will need to do and then we can decide who we think is most qualified.
