I prefer the opposite tack; take over all the countries to Panama and then we can really defend the border at minimal cost. They all would love advice to become part of the US and would vote themselves into the Union over night I’m sure. Surely all Wall st. would love this too to increase the consumer and tax base overnight another 130M.
The Dems would go for it in a minute because most would be low income and low education the perfect spawning ground for their kind.
Come on let’s get creative and broaden the base so we can spread this debt out per capita and make it look smaller so we can borrow even more overseas.

Couldn’t agree more, I learned to drive in Manhattan during those rush hours (talk about baptism by fire) with the congestion on the roads and clueless pedestrians you have to be nuts to ride a bike advice. They pulled this painted line garbage by my old house in Kew Gardens (now up in Buffalo) it was NYC DOT at its best 6 months of ripping up the roads to paint a few lines and by the time it was finished Con Ed and Verizon were painting and digging up the roads to lay in new infrastructure. I doubt more people biked because of the silly lanes anyway the roads were so congested it would be suicide for a novice rider.

I believe that the point Peter is making is that Warren’s friends purport to want to pay more taxes but refuse to simply write a check out to the US Treasury. Warren and his friends are hypocrits of the worst kind. Its akin to a group watching a commercial about starving children in Africa with an 800 number on the screen and all of them complaigning that the government should give more to help but no one picks up the phone to make a donation. Put up or shut up Warren. Stop reaching into other peoples pockets. Don’t you have enough for ten thousand lifetimes? We are just hanging on and don’t need your teen advice.

Tim it helps if you drill down into the numbers to understand what they mean. otherwise all you have is a snappy, but misleading sound bite. The WSJ has conveniently provided a chart with the relevant information. Did you look at it.
If you did you would see where the new jobs and careers are and where jobs have been lost. Manufacturing jobs (if you are a conservative these are the gold standard because it means your tax policy is working as it was designed to) THAT HAVE BEEN LOST and been replaced by government jobs (are these really jobs you want to count, you are a conservative after all).
The rest are natural resource depletion (mining and logging) of the sort that your state is either blessed with or not so surely you don’t credit Gov. Big Hair with that and health care (that’s mostly paid for with government money), and then very low paying service, fast food and tourism.

BTW Do you realize that under Gov Big Hair TX spends more money on government, as a percentage of their GDP than Illinois. Just thought you would like to know.

Really? You think the casual sixteen-year-old listener is going to drop money on turn-tables and Vinyl LPs. Does Jay-Z even make Vinyl albums? Does Lady Gaga really sound all that better in analog?
Why should new artists be forced to only make money on costly physical products, costly cover art and printing (most of which pretty much sucks anyway) and shows while their potential audience can just stay at home and download their music for free advice?
I’ve put over a $3,000 into my music collection and I own no Vinyls because I was born after 1970, I take pride in paying for my music because I like the artist I listen to an I hope the money I give them encourages them to make more music I like. What I don’t do is think that just because I do this that everyone else is going to do the same. If a resource is available for free people are going to take it, just like I take as much free candy as I can get away with on Halloween most people take as much free music they can get away with on filesharing sites.

I truly have no idea what it is with lighters for cigarettes which I continue losing only one factor is without a doubt. If a person would have the ability to find all of the matches which I have forfeit before, he’d most likely be more potent than me right now using the total value of all of the matches. The lighters for cigarettes which I have forfeit before are extremely valuable since they are designer matches that you simply cannot find anywhere like regular matches.
