I was thinking that as the bathroom does such a good job of keeping me clean, I should do more to keep it clean and tidy. Looking around there’s not really a lot I can do to improve things, but the shower area could do with a bit of updating. The shower arm is new, so I think I’ll get a new chrome corner shower caddy to help me make it all look better organized. I’ve seen one that will add to the bathroom decor too, as it’s a nice unusual design and high quality chrome. The price is a bit high, but I think I and the bathroom both deserve it.

Getting my husband to shop is nearly impossible. He said he’d rather have a root canal. Yeah, like he is getting out if it that easy. We need new bedroom furniture, and I refuse to live the next decade hearing about how he doesn’t like what I picked out. So I forced him out of bed early Saturday morning and we went to a new Discount Modern Furniture store. He wants something kind of contemporary this time. I agree. I’ve really fallen in love with the clean lines and the uncluttered look of modern design. I can’t wait to get it home.

I was tired of wearing the same old swimsuit year after year, even though I was only swimming in my own backyard with my husband. Although he was the only one to see it, I wanted to spice it up a little and find something new and exiting. With a quick search online, I came upon a website that was selling invisible bikinis and swimsuits and immediately knew I had found exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a white mesh version and decided to wear if for my husband the night I received my order. His draw dropped when he saw it, which I know means he loves it.

I came up with this chicken crockpot recipe a couple years ago. We were at a party and came home with a bunch of leftover smoked bratwurst. I cut up the bratwurst along with some boneless chicken thighs and put them in the crockpot with cut up potatoes, carrots, onions, and some frozen vegetables that I had on hand. Anything that you would put in vegetable soup or beef stew would be good. Then I added a can of cream of mushroom soup and let it cook all day. It was SO GOOD! The thing is, you have to use bratwurst that’s cooked out on the grill. It’s that smokey grilled taste that makes it good.

The new year always makes me feel like I need to perk up and refresh at least one room in my house. This year my poor neglected kitchen found itself at the top of that list.
I did a few things that made a big difference beginning with emptying out my pantry and pitching anything past it’s expiration date into the garbage. It’s amazing how much stuff gets ‘lost’ in there.
The next thing I wanted were new counter height bar stools because the ones I was using were just too low. The modern adjustable ones I found in shiny black and chrome really put some pop into my kitchen without having to work too hard.
I topped everything off with a good scrubbing and now my kitchen is sparkling again.

Portable Hammocks are not only excellent for relaxing in your own backyard, they come in very handy on camping trips too. On a camping trip you will find that it ever so much nicer to sleep in a hammock that to make a cocoon of your self in your sleeping bag on the ground. Given the choice between a sleeping bag and a hammock most people would opt for comfort of the hammock to get a good night’s sleep, something that every camper will need after a hard day of trekking and other outdoor activities. When you sleep in a hammock you are also out of reach of the creepy crawlies whose ‘day’ begins at the start of your night! What could be better than the feeling you will get of sleeping in your own bed at home when you stretch yourself out in a hammock? Hammocks are easy to take with you on camping trips because they weigh so little and can be packed easily.

My sister in law is a great parent, don’t get me wrong. I just think she pushes my niece way too hard. Come on, the little girl is only two and my sister in law has a formal reading program, a math course on DVD and now is talking about enrolling her in a Spanish class. She needs to just let Kelly learn through play. Experts have determined this is the best learning method for young children everywhere. I just don’t know how to broach the subject with Tina. She takes anything I say as criticism even if it’s nice. I hope my brother can prevent the Spanish class. Kelly needs to learn that life is fun.

My mother resolved we should consume more natural foods such as brown rice from now on. It contains more nutrients because it’s less polished. Overall, we’re going to reduce the amount of prepared food we eat as well. The first of our priorities is to buy the best brown rice cooker we can so that we’ll prepare the stuff properly. Brown rice is something totally different for us, so we’re very excited and intrigued by the idea. I’ve read that it tastes nutty and is a lot more filling than white rice or bread. I foresee entertaining meal times ahead as we get used to this fresh and nutritious kitchen ingredient.

I chose the red mahogany color of messmers stain for our fence. I knew that since the house was such a very natural color, the bright color of messmers stain would give it great contrast to the siding. My husband was really worried and told me that there was no way we could take the stain off once we put it on. He liked the natural messmers stain, but I had been looking at the natural look of the fence for three years and wanted a change. After spending three weekends straight, the fence was completed. It looks great and all the neighbors came over to tell us how much they like the color.
