Marine Navigation Technology
March 11th, 2011
The marine navigational tools of the past such as astrolabe, quadrants, chronometers, compass and charts are now being replaced by electronics that are proving to be way more efficient and easy to use. If you aren’t too much of an explorer or a serious/commercial fisherman, the basic new marine equipment like GPS can suffice. GPS systems come with complete weather reports, in-real-time delivery of images and data, chart plotters, and such. Some are more sophisticated than others, have larger monitors, else are able to deliver 3D imaging. There are also sophisticated fish finding equipment but if you aren’t in the business, the traditional fishing methods will have to suffice as equipment costs loads.
