They have to be taken through food. These fatty acids can be found in fish such as tuna, salmon, halibut and other seafood such as krill and algae. They are also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids. A crucial role is played by these omega 3 fatty acids in the functioning of brain. This is also important for normal growth and development. Their popularity has also increased and the risk of heart disease can be reduced.
