Diabetic foot-Needs to be Protected

March 23rd, 2010

In diabetic patients it is said that the nerve and blood circulation is impaired so when this happens they are at a high risk for developing complications from their diabetic foot. It also happens that patients who are having diabetes are less likely to feel any damage or injury to their foot the reason for this is because the nerves are already damage. This damage may just be a cut in the skin, or pressure from an ill-fitting shoe or something as serious as an ankle sprain. Because the damage is not detected it keeps on getting worse. And due to the impaired circulation, once the damage as happened then healing of that damage is impaired also. Not enough nutrients get through to the damaged tissue that is needed by the cells for repair. The diabetic foot needs to be protected.
