Mental Health Conditions That May Make You Eligible For Social Security Disability

November 11th, 2009

There are nine categories in which the Social Security Department arranges mental health disabilities that may qualify you for Social Security Disability benefits.

Here are the categories:

1) Organic Disorders

2) Schizophrenic, paranoid as well as other psychotic disorders

3) Affective Disorders

4) Mental Retardation

5) Anxiety Disorders

6) Somatoform Disorders

7) Personality Disorders

8) Substance Addiction Disorders

9) Autistic and other developmental disorders

Each claim for the above condition is handled on a case by case basis.  Examination and investigation of your particular medical condition will be reviewed carefully and given much consideration to the actual degree of your limitation to work due to your mental disability capacity.

All conditions such as these listed above must be accompanied by medical records by your doctors as evidence and proof of your medical condition. To learn more about mental health conditions and SSDI please contact a disability advocate or the Social Security Administration directly.
