Toe Walking

August 21st, 2009

Kids who walk around on their toes is usually nothing to be overly concerned about. More often than not, it is just a matter of a short person want to be taller. If they can get their heels to the ground and all the developmental milestones have been achieved, then there is nothing to worry about. If they can not get the heels to the ground and/or the developmental milestones have not been achieved, then further investigation is needed. In these cases neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy; orthopaedic disorders such as tight calf muscles; and behavioural disorders such as autism need to be considered as a cause of toe walking.
