Involve the Kids in Your next Deck Restoration

April 9th, 2009

Last year, I almost fell through some weak boards in my deck. When the boards were removed, I found they had rotted. The surrounding woodwork was soaked, because they hadn’t been sealed when the deck was first put in. If I didn’t use it so much, the deck restoration might have waited another winter. The kids used the area to play in, so I added few new boards and some water sealant. The kids even helped, and that made it more fun! They enjoyed spreading the sealant, pounding nails and cutting boards. Every time we cookout now, the kids talk about how they showed me how to fix it.
