Japanese Bathrooms: Orderly and Relaxing

September 19th, 2009

One primary reason why I enjoy traveling is the amount of unique cultural experiences that await the savvy traveler. If all you do while traveling is visit the so-called “tourist” spots, then I feel you lose out on much of what a foreign culture has to offer. Take for example my most recent trip to the storied country of Japan. Even though I had a small idea of how different japanese bathrooms were from what most of us westerners are used to, it was actually experiencing them first-hand that solidified my realization of what I’d heard. The Japanese are truly a remarkable people and the order they maintain in their baths is evidence of it.
