Learn From The Mistake

March 4th, 2009

It wasn’t even our fire.  The building next to ours caught fire during the night.  By the time a passerby smelled smoke, the flames had ignited our business as well.  Regardless, our building suffered much more damage than the one where the fire started.  The difference?  The fire rating in the two buildings.  The other building had a rating of 120 minutes.  Ours only had 30 minutes.  The structure of their building was not damaged, while ours was destroyed.  Now they are facing building repairs, while we are facing reconstruction or going out of business.  If we are able to rebuild, the same mistake will not be repeated.
