There is a famous quote that goes something like this: watch your thoughts because they become actions. Watch your actions because they become habits, and watch your habits because they become character. This quote points to a powerful self help skill. And that is to develop the ability to watch and observe your mental and emotional processes.
Begin to become a better observer of yourself. Develop the witness within. If your thoughts get caught on something negative, notice that. Witnessing thoughts are the first step to changing them. Noticing you have a bad attitude is the first step to switching to a more positive one.
