There’s a New Generation to Love Wooden Trains
July 20th, 2009
Recently I took a trip to New York City and walked through one of the most famous toy stores in the United States. As I wandered the aisles, I noticed how many of their best-selling toys are the same things my brothers and I loved when we were growing up. When I got to the wooden trains, a whole flood of happy memories came rushing back. I had to get the set for my grandson. I wasn’t sure how a kid who plays video games would feel about the simple trains, but he loved them. When I left him last night he was lost in a world of make believe, complete with engineers, whistles, and black coal smoke.
