Where do I look for extra tutoring?

Having recently experienced the English schooling system for the first time, when my 6 year old was struggling with his spellings I didn’t know where to turn for help. I am a terrible speller myself so wouldn’t try to help him for fear of giving him the wrong advice! I asked around the school and when speaking with one of the mothers that recently moved to Cheltenham from London, she recommended I look for some private tuition. Where would I find a good private tutor? She recommended I ask the school if they have any other parents using private tutors and perhaps I could speak to them. I found this especially useful as I could ask questions about the other children and if they had similar issues with their studies.
