A View Finder Is A Handy Tool To Have When Installing CCTV Security Cameras

October 11th, 2009

It is a monumental pain in the neck ( literally ) to accurately point cctv security cameras during an installation.  Unless you happen to have a small portable monitor, it’s just about impossible to know precisely what the scene will look like through the camera.  If you are installing an IP Security Camera, it’s even worse since their is typically no video output.  But recently I ran across a pretty nifty gadget on CCD Direct’s website (www.ccddirect.com).  It’s a hand held optical view finder.  Just dial in the image sensor size for your camera, the focal length of the lens on the camera, then peek through the viewer.  It perfectly frames the scene so you can easily tell what all will be captured.  Then just approximate the cameras position and angle and you are good to go !
