Four Types of Offshore Outsourcing

August 25th, 2009

In recent years, a lot of companies have begun sending work to countries other than their own. This practice is called offshore outsourcing. Because of lower labor costs in other countries, it can save a company a lot of money. This kind of outsourcing has four basic types. Information Technology Outsourcing involves computer or Internet work, such as programming or creating websites. The second type, Business Process Outsourcing, includes such things as running call centers and processing insurance claims. Software Research and Development is the third type. As the name suggests, it means creating software. Finally, we have Knowledge Process Outsourcing. Things that require more skills fall under this category.
