The advantages and disadvantages of using biofuels as an alternative form of fuel makes interesting reading. On the plus side is that it really is possible to make efficient fuels to power our vehicles, even some forms of factory machinery and also farm implements. On the minus side is that the production of biofuels is not yet at an effective, competitive level. In certain countries, like Brazil, for instance, the situation is more developed and biofuels are more readily available. Advantages and disadvantages of biofuels need to be weighed up against those of fossil fuels and we will see that, at every turn, biofuels are getting the upper edge. Of course, our society is completely geared towards fossil fuels so they are convenient, but the deleterious effects they have on the environment – long term – means that we need to gear our lives to green alternatives quickly.
