Lambayeque hosts the Lord of Sipan
October 20th, 2009
The Lord of Sipan Museum opened in 2002 in Lambayeque, Peru. It has a unique building design resembling a dark red pyramid. In order to gain access you have to climb steps and enter at the top. When you get inside, you wander down through the galleries where there is a fascinating, well-preserved archeologist’s display of fine things from that time. There are three main floors to this museum. On one floor, you will find Moche artifacts, most of them are ceramics. Next are the gold and silver artifacts that they removed from the tomb. On the last floor, the one on the ground floor, is a reproduction of how the tomb looked inside. For a more in depth look, You can watch a movie of the actual tomb.
